Being A Graduate Of Eczema

Being A Graduate Of  Eczema

Now lets get one thing straight I in no means want to make this a victimised post! I'm too Kick ass and loving life to ever do that! This is going to be a funny real and humorous take on having something that can be debilitating if you let it be.

So I want this to inspire anyone that either has Eczema or something that hinders there day to day activity to know that this that makes you different is what creates that certain special-ness in someone that no one else will ever be able to emulate so enjoy that different and embrace it celebrate it .

So I have had this condition that now is like my best friend since the age of 5! I was a cute bonny lass curly black hair fair skin big eyes and cheeky as anything! . My mother always recalled that she can't even remember when the itch episodes started happening but all she remembers is me crying and my skin reddening, I suppose you could say that was the start to a lot of doctors visits, emotional turmoil and generally feeling like I don't quite fit in!

Course skipping to a few years on and after many specialist appointments and Indian home made remedies trips, to homeopaths, allopaths, ayuvedic, and even Chinese herbal medicine, finally the approach became to let my skin breathe, to keep me in a happy environment apply the steroid creams as and when it became necessary and see what route my skin takes! Which honestly by that time I took a sigh of a relief that my parents had finally stopped and realised I needed a break. I just wanted to be normal. To play with my friends, to read, to listen to music, to got to the cinema, eat pizza and mime to my favourite Jason Donovan songs! come on I was 14 :)

So you see when you have it at such a young age the decisions for your health are of course taken by your guardians or parents. They mean well and want you to be fit and healthy but sometimes it can be more damaging then good. But thats ok because the intention is pure and thats all that matters.

So we should we see what a day in life of NeerusLifeStyle looks like?

Day 1 9-10am
shower , creams, more creams , eat breakfast, check emails all social media platforms. Check what needs doing in business ( which by the way is real estate) I need to do at least 3/4 hours of admin most days to stay ontop of whats happening . If I have properties empty then I'm busy throughout getting them renovated advertised marketed and rented. Did I mention that in between all this I do my blog which to be honest is my escapism into my world and my voice, so I love it.

Adding Creams

11-12
Normally have a smoothie or green juice at least a litre or slightly less. I do this religiously to boost my immune system to stop infected skin episodes. Usually carry on with work things or blog stuff and catch up on some Youtube videos.

Adding Creams

1-2pm
I will go for my brisk walk or either a 40 minute swim! perks of working for yourself you can take time out to do that. Grab some lunch after , either with a friend or then I go home and toss something together today I'm having a egg salad with potatoes.

Adding Creams

3-4pm
I might read a little, have some afternoon snack of some dates with almond butter or then rice cakes with cheese mmmm Yum niomismart.com thanks for this idea.

Adding Creams

5-6pm
Normally try to get dinner ready for other half and myself. Might go for another 30 minute walk. Catch up with a friend on the phone whilst walking usually someone abroad because the time difference makes sense.

Adding Creams

7-8pm
Catch up with other half. Chat and eat dinner. Normally try and control the urge for desert but if I do succumb to it then it has to be one small piece of chocolate or something with a good cuppa tea.

Adding Creams

10-11pm
catch up on some tv series that we may be watching together at the moment its Indian Summers. Bit more of a chit chat and lights off really. I am usually sneaking a few youtube videos on my iPad with my headphones on! addict I know

You might be thinking ok so whats with the add creams scenario , well look my whole aim to this blog was to not emphasise how tough it is but to show you that though my regime is intense and always has been I relatively live a normal life whilst I add my creams you can see I have given you an average weekday routine of mine and sometimes I even fit more in!

We all watch so many Youtubers night time routines, morning routines and even their skin care routines and the products people use. If you have an extra situation that needs to be tended to it is so manageable. In life its your attitude to things that matters. If you feel I'm the victim, why me, or this isn't fair then that is how the universe god the ultimate one whoever you believe in will make your life as. You need to be a survivor someone who is grateful for things celebrates life and the choices we have been given. Yes in the amidst of all that there are specialist appointments and treatments that need to be changed perhaps a few episodes of infections even but don't let it get you down. Ladies and Gentleman its the struggles in life the twists and turns that shape your character. When you start believing in miracles and start living from a place of love rather than fear. You will love life just as much as I do regardless of the hurdles or how high you have to jump over them.

Nevertheless I will give some tips on how to best manage Eczema so if anything resonates with you and if you have a family member or friend that has this how do they manage ? what have you noticed being a friend to them? or maybe you are a graduate tell me your story and lets connect.

Night Time Itching

Its the hardest one, lack of sleep effects you the next day, however to ease the episodes which will happen at night heres some ideas:

1. Lather some creams where it itches bearing in mind the jar should be in the fridge the cooling effect will help
2. Eyes burning feeling itchy I repeat don't itch them , eye infections due to itching are not pleasant, simple remedy splash cold water on them or cotton wool soak it in boiled water and put over your eye
3. divert your mind put the lamp on ( yeah the partners suffer alongside you!) and read watch something just take your mind off it
4. Tire yourself during the day so much that you are too tired to itch at night! ( My Strategy)
5. Don't use your nails try to stroke the itch away! I know thats hard or put a ice cold pack on the area. Nails will break the skin open and then infection can set in , we need to avoid that at all cost.

On Holiday By The Pool

On holiday getting sun for some  helps for some it doesn't , nevertheless you still need to be more attentive to your skin

1. Keep suncream on at all times , I use the Nivea 50 factor you need to because if you are a Eczema sufferer your skin will be a lot more thinner due to the flare episodes so the harmful rays and burning episodes are much more likely
2. sit under an umbrella and defiantly keep your face covered so wear a hat
3. Once coming out of the pool, skin will start getting itchy irritated so straight up either have your emollient close by or then use the Nivea sunscreen as a cream and lather. Look I have done it , may look strange but who cares its your holiday
4. Wear loose fitting shorts or skirts, allow the skin to breathe and enjoy the vitamin D it is being exposed to in small amounts.

Having A Stress-Ful Day

This is probably the hardest one, as adults who doesn't have things going on that can cause stress or anxiety. How I cope, and how I have learnt to manage my stress.

1. Firstly Breathe so whether you want to call that meditation or just deep breathing start the day with 10 minutes of full breathing, try to think of all the things that your are greaful for and give yourself positive affirmations whilst you at it. Twitter can hold for the moment!
2. Whatever your stresses of the day are maybe its kids or work or just your thoughts take time out STOP and breathe and relax yourself, those of you who know what its like to scratch we will do it whilst we are thinking, in a rush, happy, sad, you name it , we find a reason!
3. Think happy thoughts, it helps honestly, make it a choice
4. Keep positive people in your life that support you and cheer you on in your lives decisions
5. Be grateful more.

At A Wedding Or Function

This is the one time a girl wants to look her best, but alas if you have sore skin that day or are having some chronic itch episode it can be quite upsetting and frustrating, here are some things that help:

1. Breathe take a moment
2. Tell a family member so that they can be aware and help perhaps just diverting your mind
3. get some fresh air cooling air against the skin helps
4. Make sure you are carrying your creams, just put some on and observe the world while you wait for it to dry
5. Very important in fact try and wear clothes even formal wear little loose fitting with less embellishments that will touch your skin it all helps in keeping you comfortable on a long function day
6. Smile think happy positive thoughts and be greaful it works and helps to ease the mind
7. Don't let your mind go the why me route?! it doesn't help. You have to make the best of a situation that you have been given in life.
8. Remember this type of struggle only cultivates kindness and compassion in you and we know how much the world is needing that right now!

So you see , its ok theres a million and one scenarios that I could speak of and how to cope, ultimately its your attitude towards it that will help. Ask for help don't hesitate , even if that means moral support its ok to ask. Friends and family that care will understand and if they don't , they are not worth your time in the first place.

Take life steady give yourself enough sleep, eat nourishing food, surround yourself with the right sort of people and keep busy love life enough to keep challenging yourself . Life loves you , you just got to love yourself enough

Primark/ H&M/ Dune/ Clarks/ River Island/Topshop/Moda In Pelle- Haul

Clothes, Jewellery, Shoes & Handbags! Phew

Skirt-H&M, Vest Top-TopShop, Floral Shorts-Primark

No matter how much I say to myself I still end up shopping and buying new things. I don't think I have ever followed the trend as such but whats in the shops I will most defiantly check out and if it works for me and my body shape then ill purchase it.

Since my Slip disc i have not been able to exercise as much as I would like to,  so in essence I have gained some weight . I have had to start a new wardrobe excepting my new size embracing it and loving the new creativity I am finding that is within me!

So here is a mix haul of some items that I have purchased over the months from various high street shops see what you think, maybe you have purchased something similar ? let me know and put your comments to how i could best accessorise  these items.

First item that I have been searching for was a Leather Jacket , never been able to find one that suits me fits me well and is not too heavy as a jacket until i walked into Primark ! who would have thought. This biker jacket is extremely  light and thats the first thing that struck me secondly it has enough detailing to make it a leather jacket but at the same time its not over embellished. It has pockets that have zip detailing and thats pretty much it , it fits well with my body and I was very happy with my purchase.

Leather Jacket-Primark
Now anyone that knows me , they know that I love my denim jacket its so versatile that I dress it with anything and I honestly feel that it works , so this next clothing purchase I picked up from Primark was a Denim Waistcoat its so soft and lightweight and goes great with a white tshirt and jeans or then leggings long shirt or even a skirt with a vest tucked in and wait for it even a maxi dress and I have seen some ladies rocking it! . Its denim so it never really goes out of fashion I like the 80's feel that it has to it. What do you think? Like it ?

Denim Waistocat- Primark

Second few items were my favourite summer buy and were worn on 2 of my holidays that I taken so far Santorini Greece and Ibiza Spain,  these aztec print shorts only £4 bargain buy! they went with everything any plain vest or detailed top flip flops sandals dress them  up or down either way light clothes to pack pretty and complimentary on the figure. I got them in a few aztec prints and they were a compete hit on my holiday in Ibiza!

Top Shop Black Vest/ Aztec print Shorts- Ibiza Spain 2015

Also you may have noticed in the first picture the blue aztec print skirt, this was bought in H&M I do think that it has been popular as I have seen some women wear the top with the same print . I loved the print to this and have worn this on holiday with a vest tucked in and some wedge heels its a lovely outfit  very bright and colourful.
Aztec Print Skirt-Primark

Second staple item I bought for my wardrobe was a black loose fitted vest top which i had been again searching for , this can go with denim shorts, fitted jeans and even skirts big statement necklace, red lips, clutch bag, with the leather jacket and right there you have an outfit for a casual evening out.

Black Vest Top- Top Shop

In addition to all this I also purchased some big chunky necklaces. I love this as a statement piece and  I know that a few years back this was very much in. Remember Gok Kwan and his mobile trailer he went around  the UK and all I can recall is him dressing some of the ladies in fitted jeans, tailored jacked, with a belt over it to cinch in the waist and a statement necklace and I am still very fond of that, its my go to when things are not working in the wardrobe. Anyway I have digressed enough, so going back to the necklaces one was bought in River Island which is the gold snake like circular necklace, which i tried in silver too but the gold had a different charm completely . It is so statement like honestly with a plain top it just makes the outfit. Whats interesting about this necklace is that even on the tightest notch it still fits loose and more like a circular collar style , so a lower neck top works better with this, that way the necklace can be seen properly.

Snake Like Circular Necklace-River Island

The other piece is from H & M is so different and reminds me of the Egyptian era, I have worn this with a Sari those of you not familiar with this its a long piece of cloth draped around our body its a very sexy piece of attire in the Indian wear. So I wore this necklace with a plain sari and it was just POW that is a word isn't it ?! lol it works with ethnic clothing and English wear its so different that I am so glad I bought this. Bearing in mind that the neckline would look better higher so that the necklace can speak for itself, less detail on the clothing the better.

Egyptian Type Long Necklace- H&M

Last few items are shoes, and yes there is a trend with them all. They are similarly styled open peep toe sandals. I just love them and happen to buy these over a period of a month from 3 different shops! what I love about them is how comfortable they are to wear , yet so feminine and they dress up a outfit so nicely whether its a dress skirt or jeans . The Black peep toes were bought from Dune and they also had them in cream but i much preferred this colour, very versatile will literally go with everything! the little wow factor to these are the heels, dimante style embellishments just on the heel,   how dazzling of them!  the cream peep toe are from Clarks and yes they do pretty shoes too, they are cream overlay and inside there is a little pop of pink and the heel is gold so pretty and feminine.

Black Peep Toe Dimante Sandal-Dune

Small Wedge Peep Toe Sandal-Clarks

The Last shoe very similar! to the above is my bargain buy of £22. From Moda In Pelle. Again the peep toe style sandal, just so much more comfortable for me! This is bright pink and glittery perfect for an evening out or even if you want to dress from casual to evening wear I do think you can get away with wearing these with a pair of jeans vest top and jacket . I just love them and know I will get a lot of wear from them.

Pink Peep Toe Dimante Style Sandal-Moda in Pelle
What do you think of these type of sandals would it be something you would wear? how about the other clothes I know that I have seen a few ladies wear the Aztec Blue skirt and a similar top so it must be popular. I would love to know your thoughts on how further these items could be worn.

Also my last note to add to this, clothes are a great way to express your individual style , you don't really have to follow any particular fashion or trend . Its what fits you well and your body shape as well as what makes you smile and feel conformable in. So never feel pressurised with what the magazines are showing or what the catwalk models are displaying. Be your own beautiful and work that!

Manish Arora Who?

Manish Arora

Anyone heard of him? No thats what I thought . Its a short blog but I found this so interesting and rather unique and had to take pictures and share with you all.

This collection is so far out there but so enticing that I had to stop look share take pictures and all in all say bravo to the designer I thought Moschino had it going on when i shared on a previous blog the leather jacket, which was a  small bag and then this took my eye and i was like wow oh my this is so cool so edgy I want one, when I have saved enough!, come on when you see these handbags you will also think 'different!' right?! Who else likes things that are innovative different and against the norm? personally I love someone that can do that, isn't that when trends change or fashion statements pieces materialise.

So as you can see slightly quirky dark and weird,  walking into a party with this slung over your shoulder you know this will start a conversation about 'where did you get this from?' . I did open the zip as you can see and there was quite a bit of storage space i loved the detailing , the colours the use of fabrics, slightly dark but fun!

Whats your opinion on these bags? would you wear these anywhere, would you except this as a birthday gift or pass them on to another friend lol

I would love to pick the designers mind and find out where his idea came from and whether he has gifted these to any of his relatives and friends :)

Sometimes Blogs have to be fun and this is what this one is for sure! I love that i have a platform to share new and wonderful things that happen in NeerusLifeStyle, it is so Unscripted .

Until Next Week

Foundations! Which One?!

Foundations!

How many of us actually know which foundation to use, which one actually suits and how much coverage one should have. Theres just too much out there now, walk into Selfridges of Oxford Street and you feel like you have walked into a Casino in Las Vegas with the bright lights people swarming everywhere it can be a little daunting but exhilarating as well!

I have to say that certain you tubers have helped me to di-sect and decipher which foundation best suits me and to play around with it all.

To name a few! So here are my top 5 foundations that i have found work for me , give different types of coverage work well with my face and good for any season.

Wake Me Up Rimmal Beige

Lets start with the no fuss no nonsense wake me up Foundation, its drug store bought affordable  , covers all blemishes, gives a full coverage and reminds me a little of Nars Sheer Glow but its a thicker base so you don't need too much. I find this is perfect for everyday wear! you don't need to moisturise your face before hand as this already is moisturising in itself. I usually just pump a little on the back of my hand to warm it up a little and then apply with my fingers . My go to on most days.

Nars Sheer Glow i was introduced to this whilst watching Tanya Burr and to be honest its my next go to foundation, when I'm going out or on holiday this is the perfect foundation to go for. Its a great foundation to build on , if you want a light coverage just one layer is good enough it leaves a beautiful dewy finish . You can build up coverage wise to whatever you are comfortable with . i love applying this with a real techniques brush it blends in well and is another foundation where you don't really need a moisturiser before hand, this consistency is creamy and dewy enough. price range is middle so will not break your piggy bank!

Now what can i say about this! it is near perfection to the finish it leaves you with. I came across this brand whilst meandering the isles of Selfridges and i was taken aback by their eyeshadows and lip colours not really even thinking about a foundation, but once a customer service person comes up to you and suggests a trial who am i honestly to say no! i have a lot of red pigmentation in my cheeks so i explained that and she tried on a yellow based foundation which tones down the redness and is a much thicker and fuller coverage. It left my skin flawless , its a special occasion foundation and not much is needed however very drying so you need some sort of a primer with it but before i would recommend a moisturiser . Little goes far, its a matte finish so not sure if it works for summer days i prefer a dewy look for that , but good for evening wear or formal work meetings during the day.

This is my 2015 summer favourite foundation and i came across this just by chance again had a trial and loved the silky feel the freshness about it and the soft skin that it leaves me with . It is a build up foundation which builds well great coverage and i would recommend their buffering brush to apply with , Squirt a little on a brush and apply with circular motions! feels so nice and leaves the face looking like you have just been on holiday and left with a sun kissed glow. Its hydrating just as the package explains . Go try this ! its brilliant

This little beauty is High End ! but what can i say a girl has to treat herself . My birthday indulgence as you may have realised after my previous blogs. Its a new foundation stick that came out only a few months ago and again i went for a trial its very expensive so you need to know you are making the right choice. Its a creamy stick foundation so not a lot is needed but you need a full moisturised face before you think of applying this i found otherwise it stuck to my face in places and was not very attractive! so cream up and then apply and it leaves you with a flawless photo worthy face. It was originally applied with brush but i would say fingers is also fine. Its a brilliant special occasion foundation and i preferred the heavier coverage so that it coverage my red areas on my cheeks but you can apply sparingly too.

So this is my take on foundations, I'm not an expert on any of this. But we are girls and its fun to learn and play around with makeup thats how we get the look we might be after. Its a feel good factor and if it gives a boost to ones self esteem then great!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this. More Next Week..
